SUMMARY:High Ropes & Confidence Course Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Led by expert guides who employ instructional outdoor education methods to make the most of the day. They will be lead you through the following stations as time allows: Low Ropes Course Challenges – Participate in games and exercises that are no more than 2 feet off the ground. High Ropes Challenge Course – Traverse all 18 elements starting 16 feet off the ground and progress up to 45 feet off the ground. Terrapin Tower – Scale all 12 routes of our climbing tower. Participants will take turns climbing and encourage each other while clambering up the 43 ft. tower. \nZip Line – Conquer your fears by crossing the 30-foot long cable and jumping off the zip platform. Then relax as you glide through the forest on our 330 ft. zip line. Giant Swing – Imagine their faces as up to 3 participants at a time get lifted 40 feet into the air\, pull the release cord and experience a split second of freefall followed by up to 2 G’s of force while swishing through the canopy. Includes: Gear\, Guide instruction\, Transportation and Lunch. *This program is open to ages 8+. Participants need to weigh between 60-275 lbs. and be minimum height of 4 ft. \n*Sign-up deadline: 4:00pm on Wednesday\, April 8\, 2026 \n  \nTrip Itinerary:  \n8:15am: Meet at Joint Base Andrews Outdoor Recreation (1235 Menoher Drive) Please arrive on time. \n8:30am-9:30am: Drive to Terrapin Adventures \n10:00am-3:00pm: Guide Instruction and Lunch \n3:00pm-3:30pm: Wrap Up and Load Bus \n3:30pm-4:30pm: Drive back to JBA ODR \n  \nEligibility: \nAll active-duty military\, including reserves and national guard\, DoD employees\, their dependents and up to five additional non-military affiliated guests are welcome to participate in any Outdoor Adventure Program. \n  \nCaution: \nParticipants should understand that ropes courses\, climbing towers\, and zip lines are physically demanding activities that involve inherent risks\, even when proper instruction\, supervision\, and safety equipment are used. These risks may include slips\, falls\, loss of balance\, impact injuries\, sprains\, strains\, bruises\, cuts\, muscle fatigue\, dizziness\, and overexertion. Elevated elements introduce additional risks related to height\, harnesses\, cables\, ladders\, platforms\, and other safety systems\, as well as the potential for fear responses or disorientation. Weather conditions\, physical limitations\, and individual decision-making can also affect safety. By choosing to participate\, individuals acknowledge these risks\, agree to follow all rules and staff instructions\, use equipment properly\, remain clipped in when required\, participate within their physical limits\, and immediately report any discomfort\, injury\, or safety concern to staff. \n  \nPlease call if you have any questions: \n301-981-4109 or 301-981-5663
