Whitewater Rafting

Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting thought one of the most scenic river corridors in the Mid-Atlantic! This guided adventure takes participants along the final stretches of the Shenandoah River as it meets the Potomac, carving a spectacular 6.5-mile through the Blue Ridge Mountains near Harpers Ferry. Participants will navigate exiting Class II-III rapids under the direction of professional guides while enjoying scenic views across West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. Ideal for beginners and adventure seekers looking for a fun, active day on the water. This includes transportation, snacks, lunch and raft guides. *This program is open to ages 7 + and 70 lbs.

Itinerary:
8:00am: Check In at ODR
10:00am โ 11:00am: Arrive at Outfitter, Check In, Safety Brief
11:00am โ 2:00pm: River Adventure w/ Mid River break and Snack
2:00pm โ 2:30pm: Shuttle back to bus
2:30pm โ 3:15pm: Lunch Break
3:15pm โ 5:00pm: Drive / Return to ODR
Recommended items to bring:
- Secure footwear that can get wet (strap sandals/old sneakers)
- Quick dry clothing or swimwear
- Towel and change of clothes
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Sunglasses with strap
- Waterproof bag for essentials
CAUTION:
Participants should understand that whitewater rafting is an outdoor recreational activity that involves inherent risks, even when proper instruction, supervision, and safety equipment are used. These risks may include slips, trips, or falls on uneven or wet terrain; entering or falling into moving water; impact with rocks, paddles, rafts, or other participants; strains or minor injuries related to paddling or physical exertion; and fatigue during the activity. Additional risks are associated with changing river and weather conditions, including water levels, currents, temperature, and obstacles. Participants may also encounter swimming in rapids as directed by guides, as well as navigating a steep uphill walk at the conclusion of the trip. By choosing to participate, individuals acknowledge these risks and agree to follow all staff instructions, wear and use required safety equipment properly, remain seated or positioned as directed in the raft, participate within their physical limits, and immediately report any discomfort, injury, or safety concern to staff.
Eligibility includes all active-duty military, including reserves and national guard, DoD employees, their dependents and up to five additional non-military affiliated guests are welcome to participate in any Outdoor Adventure Program.
